It’s the 10th of the month again, so my friends and I are here to share our monthly decor with you! This month, we’re featuring our Simple Valentine’s Day Decor Ideas with you! You’re probably coming to my blog from my friend Sheila’s at Maison de Cinq. I love the ways she has added sweet Valentine touches throughout her home! Now, take a look at what’s been going on around my home for February!
When I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of sweets and treats! I got an ice cream maker for a wedding gift (15 years ago), and I don’t think I’ve used it more than a handful of times!! So, I pulled it out and looked for some recipes on Pinterest. With delicious strawberries available, I decided to make a strawberry ice cream! I think it’s the perfect treat for V-Day! Here’s the recipe I used:
Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream
1 lb. ripe strawberries, hulled and halved
1/2 cup sugar or 1/3 cup honey
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 cups heavy (whipping) cream, half & half
In a bowl, mash the strawberries, sugar and lemon juice with a potato masher (or squish them between your fingers, or whiz in the food processor); stir in the cream. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions. If you want it firmer, transfer to a container or bowl and put in the freezer until firm. Be sure to share it with your loved ones! Use cute paper ice cream cups for a fun Valentine’s day look. Voila, homemade strawberry ice cream!
My husband and I will probably go out on a date for the big day, but I think it’s fun to celebrate before as well! So, I decided to concoct a little cocktail for the two of us! Here’s my easy Sweetheart Martini recipe that is sure to get hearts beating!
Sweetheart Martini Recipe (Makes 2 servings)
1 shot of Caribbean Rum
1 shot of Vodka
6 shots of Cranberry Raspberry Juice
2 strawberries for garnish
A wedge of orange
Pink sugar sprinkles (to rim the glass)
To make strawberry hearts, cut out a small “v” to remove the stem of the strawberry then cut into slices.
Here’s your sweetheart martini!
Love Around the House
I’ve set the Valentine mood throughout our home with a few decor pieces, to spread the love around the house. I’ve chosen soft, romantic colors to set the tone. My favorite “Love” pillow, a faux rose flower arrangement, and super sweet chocolates are favorites right now.
I also had some fun creating easy paper hearts with some craft papers, using a heart cutout stamp. I’ve tossed a few around the house on table tops.
I made my own little heart garland, using this adorable pink velvet ribbon I found on Etsy.
I hung the garland on my console table, and dressed the table up with some more pink pieces. I painted that little flamingo on canvas a few months ago, but I pulled him back out now because he matches my scheme.
I set up a little cocktail table with some favorite bubbly and strawberries!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what our house looks like for Valentine’s Day! I also hope you’ll head over to my friend Kathleen’s blog at Lindsay Hill Interiors to see her gorgeous home for Valentine’s Day! You can also see the home’s of these fabulous bloggers:
