Are you as ready for Spring as I am?? It’s a good time to refresh your spaces with a new look for Spring. I want to show you how my Mom and I created a fun Island Vibe in her living room, using a few new pieces from HomeGoods.
Last year, we saw a lot of green palm patterns trending in home decor. This year, I love this more subtle gold palm trend that I’m seeing at HomeGoods. I love how it’s a little more neutral, but still brings a nice island feel to a space. The traditional furniture in this room got a fresh update, as you’ll see.
Adding a white faux fur throw over this brown sofa gives it a lighter, brighter feel for the warmer months. A couple of white pillows with a gold palm motif set the tone for the island feel we were going for. In addition, we found this great distressed Persian style area rug in creams, gold and silver to lighten up the floor. It’s the perfect compliment to the lighter colors on the sofa.
I love all the textures we’ve brought to the space. We filled this white shell bowl with faux succulents for an added touch of green. You can use faux or real succulents in a bowl like this.
Another fun addition is this gold palm, framed art we found. It was meant to be next to these pillows, for sure! Next up, we added florals. My mom loves orchids, and they suit this theme well. The best part is, these are “faux real,” so no high maintenance here!
We had a little fun playing with the styling of this coffee table. Sometimes it takes a few different arrangements of items to get the look just right. It’s always a good idea to place a variety of heights, and shapes on your coffee table. We stayed within a white, green and metallic color scheme to create this modern island vibe.
Moving over to the other side of the room, you’ll see more of the same colors and patterns. We’ve also added a real palm tree in the corner and faux stems in a vase for a fresh pop of the Pantone color of the year, “Greenery.”
Another palm pillow, and little fur for the feet, makes this the perfect place to relax.
This antique buffet got all dressed up for a tropical cocktail party with beautiful stemware, crystal decanters and a simple white runner.
Here’s another look we created on the coffee table, using the green stems in a vase.
Overall, it was really easy and inexpensive to create this whole new look in the room. Remember, keeping your large pieces neutral allows you to bring in seasonal patterns and colors for an easy change up! Do you have a look you’d like to create in your home? Stop by HomeGoods and be inspired!
