You mentioned that you would like to update the living room, to make it more usable for the kids and their friends. Let’s make a few easy changes. You wanted some more contemporary patterns and colors in the space, so here are a few ideas. I also heard you mention adding a little pink/purple. 😉
Your current sofa/sectional will stay in place. Here’s a “sample” of something similar, just to give you a visual of things together.
Here are a few great ideas for a rug in the room: These are more neutral, with classic, contemporary and geometric patterns.
I know these may seem very neutral, but I would love to add pops of color and fun, youthful touches with a few new accessories.
Here a few new ottomans that would look great with this combination:
Living Spaces. Durable, great color, and a good mix of contemporary and warm and traditional.
World Market. This one is a navy blue leather, with brass legs. Looks lighter in person.
I know you don’t want to add a lot of extras, but a few key pieces will help pull together a fresh new look. I love this piece of art for the wall behind the couch (where the picture of the bird is).
A few new pillows on the sofa will tie everything together. These jewel tones will pull the colors from the art. These are either general ideas, or these specific pillows will work.
It might even be fun (and useful) to add in a couple poufs for extra seating: Merlot and Teal or Navy
You mentioned you really liked the look of the neutral curtains at A’s, so I wanted to give you that option. It would look great!
I just wanted to show you a couple of inexpensive accessories that could be added in the room.
These baskets are from Pottery Barn, but you can find them at HomeGoods too.
A cozy, faux-furry throw would be a fun addition. This one is from Pottery Barn, but you can find similar throws at HomeGoods.
A few, pale blue glass bottles. Maybe on the mantle or behind the sofa on the table. These are from Living Spaces, but you can find at HomeGoods or Marshalls.
Another piece of art, that would work with the colors.
I love the dining room space! Here are my ideas for creating a fresh new look in there.
I would love to see a contemporary, farm house style table in the space. Here are a few ideas I have:
This one is from World Market.
This one is from Z Gallerie.
We can mix it with your existing chairs (here’s a similar example), and they can be painted a new color or white. Here are some color suggestions:
OR, we can go with a new chair. These would look nice:
Your existing art would stay (which is great!)
I’ve chosen a few rug options that will look great with your existing art, and will compliment the table and chairs as well. Traditional patterns, with a contemporary color/style twist!
The Family Room
You were considering a new sofa. I love the idea of adding a shapely sofa like this one: It comes in several colors, but I love this one.
With a rug like this:
